Competitive Employment Abilis works with individuals to create customized career plans that build upon their interests and skills and offer avenues toward employment in the community. There are five primary steps in the competitive employment process, which include:

  • • Skill Assessment
  • • Skill Development
  • • Career Exploration
  • • Job Placement
  • • Ongoing Coaching for Skill Maintenance and Retention

Each individual transitions between these steps at a different pace based on skills and needs. For individuals who need additional support and are unable to participate in competitive employment, Abilis provides supported employment opportunities through its own businesses, designed to provide meaningful work, additional skill development and experience.

Abilis employment services are available through the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work program, state funding from the Department of Development Services (DDS) for individuals requiring extended support, and on a private pay basis.
