Abilis offers a wide range of daily community-based activities that provide social and recreational opportunities for individuals of all ages. These programs range from weekly art, music, and cooking classes to monthly birthday parties with dancing and other social gatherings. Our current activities are split between virtual and in-person.
The goal of these activities is to allow individuals with disabilities to build upon their interests and skills in a supportive environment that nurtures camaraderie and friendship. Programs take place at our Glenville headquarters and in the community at local non-profit partner facilities. Whenever possible, Abilis includes peer volunteers to promote inclusion.
Because of the activities appeal to different ages, some of our programs are not fixed in terms of age. Abilis values the ability to offer activities to ensure friendship, fun and meaningful outcomes for each person. It is important that we continue our successful fundraising efforts to ensure we can continue to offer an affordable activities program that is accessible to all. We are pleased to inform due to the generosity of foundations and individual donors, we can reduce the cost to individuals for participating in the Activities Programs.
Beginning July 1, 2024, Abilis will offer a quarterly activities fee of $75* or an annual activities fee of $300.00*. *Note: Seasonal dances and celebrations, along with Adult Cooking with Jean will be excluded from the quarterly/annual activities fees. Due to the food costs involved, there will be a $20.00 per event fee for these activities/events.
