Behavioral Supports

The Therapy Center at Abilis provides behavioral supports.

Services are provided by licensed Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to understand and help change behaviors that interfere with skill development and social relationships.

All therapy plans are based on an initial evaluation that includes parent and caregiver feedback. Depending upon the behavior plan, different Abilis specialists may work in tandem with the behaviorist to accomplish specific goals and objectives.

Abilis behavorial supports adhere to Natural environmental teaching (NET)

Work is done with children in the environments in which challenging behaviors occur - at home, at school, or in the community.

This benefits the child in two important ways.
First, the behaviorist is able to evaluate the environment and recommend modifications to change behaviors.
Second, the BCBA can educate teachers, parents, caregivers, and allied professionals about what causes the behavior and teach them about how to use successful strategies to replace or change the behavior.

Connections With Schools

Over the years, Abilis professionals have developed successful relationships with school districts. Administrators trust us and are open to collaboration to support children with IEP goals and objectives, as well as transitions. As students move from middle to high school, behavioral supports can transition seamlessly from our Therapy Center to our adult Transitions Team.
