Abilis Offering Classes for Greenwich Adults with Special Needs

Abilis, in conjunction with Greenwich Adult Continuing Education, is offering classes for adults with special needs.

Basic Computer Skills for Adults with Special Needs

A hands on experience in a small group, learning and practicing basic computer skills. Includes a focus on e-mail, safety, cyberbullying and online shopping.
•Fee: $300
•Location: Greenwich High School, 10 Hillside Road.
•Appropriate for: Adults and Older Teens
•Dates: 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (10 Tuesdays from 1/26/16-4/5/16)


Community Life Skills for Adults with Special Needs

Learn to safely navigate the community and practice skills for getting around, shopping, and dining out.
•Fee: $300
•Location: Greenwich High School, 10 Hillside Road.
•Appropriate for: Adults and Older Teens
•Dates: 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (10 Wednesdays from 3/2/16-5/18/16)


Cooking Basics for Adults with Special Needs

Understand healthy food choices, create recipes, and dine with friends.
•Fee: $350
•Location: Greenwich High School, 10 Hillside Road.
•Appropriate for: Adults and Older Teens
•Dates: 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (10 Thursdays from 1/28/16-4/21/16)

The Individual Life Plan

The Individual Life Plan (ILP) is our signature service. Abilis works collaboratively with families to assess existing needs, plan for future needs, and create a personalized roadmap for anticipated therapeutic and life skills services for their family member with disabilities. From birth through adulthood to later stages in life, the ILP will help families and individuals with disabilities prepare for and successfully navigate major life transitions.

Activities

Abilis offers social and recreational programs for children, teens, and adults. These programs range from weekly music, art, and cooking classes to monthly birthday parties with dancing and teen social gatherings with games and pizza. In addition to these regular events, Abilis schedules special outings to New York City and other destinations to enjoy arts events.
