Abilis Thanksgiving Luncheon is a Tradition in its 9th Year

Abilis, the non-profit organization that provides services and support for individuals with special needs and their families, celebrated its ninth annual luncheon on Thursday.

At Abilis, more than 50 residents and 20 staff members enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the fixin’s, with special thanks to the Greenwich Police Department for donating some of the delicious food. The celebration was started nine years ago to ensure that everyone had a place to go, people to celebrate with, and the ability to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The feast was held at the Abilis headquarters in Greenwich. Many of the dishes are provided by Abilis’ Board of Directors and volunteers.

Abilis Serves Thanksgiving For Families with Special Needs

Abilis, the non-profit organization that provides services and support for individuals with special needs and their families, celebrated its ninth (9th) annual Thanksgiving Luncheon this year on Thanksgiving day, Thursday, November 24, 2016.

The celebration was created to ensure that everyone had a place to go, people to celebrate with, and the ability to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Each year Abilis has approximately 50 residents and 20 staff sit down to a Thanksgiving feast together at the Abilis headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut. Many of the dishes are provided by Abilis’ Board of Directors and volunteers.

Greenwich-Based Abilis Dishes Up Thanksgiving Dinner For Clients, Staff

GREENWICH, Conn. — Frances Contardi enjoyed her Thanksgiving dinner with other Abilis clients and staff in Greenwich — although she did offer a small critique on her turkey.

"The turkey was a bit dry," she said as she finished up her plate, filled with Brussels sprouts. "I like the dinner." She was one of about 50 clients and 20 staff members at Abilis who gathered in the Greenwich headquarters for its ninth annual Thanksgiving dinner. Abilis is a nonprofit group that provides people with developmental disabilities and their families in Lower Fairfield County with support and advocacy services.

First County Bank Foundation Grants $45,500 to Greenwich Nonprofits

First County Bank Foundation is celebrating its 15th anniversary and has awarded individual grants worth over $7.5 million since its inception in 2001.
