Around 100 people put on their dancing shoes and enjoyed some quality time together at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, as Abilis hosted its annual Valentine’s Day Dance. It was a great success,” said Lisa Bria, activities manager at Abilis. “Everybody had fun and there was a lot of dancing and food. Everybody had a really nice time and that was great for me to see.”

GREENWICH, Conn. — Like many parents, New Canaan father of three Dennis W. Perry became involved in his children's education by joining the school board. He did the same when his son, Ross, now 25, became a client of the Abilis organization in Greenwich.

Abilis, pronounced ABLE-ISS, provides services for 700 children and adults with developmental disabilities every year. "Ross was born in Hong Kong, where we were living at the time," Perry began an interview. "Born well, Ross’ disability occurred as a result of his contracting bacterial meningitis at 10 weeks, which led to our learning about the world of disabilities and the value of early intervention," Perry said.

The first annual Abilis Grahamberries Blueberry Bake-Off Contest was held Friday afternoon at Abilis in Greenwich. The contest was named after Abilis group home resident and blueberry farmer, Graham Moore, whose parents Greenwich residents Peter and Philippa Orszulak own a blueberry farm in upstate New York called Blueberry Hill.
