October 18, 2020 | Greenwich Sentinel

For the past 15 years, the annual Walk/Run for Abilis has become a hallmark celebration for the Abilis community. Each October, Abilis’ clients, families and friends gather for the Walk/Run for Abilis, which has traditionally been held at Greenwich Point Park. The event is Abilis’ largest annual fundraiser and signature “friend-raising” event. Many who take part in Walk/Run for Abilis do so because they are inspired by a friend or family member with a developmental disability. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Abilis has moved the annual Walk/Run for Abilis to a virtual event on October 18, 2020. Participants are encouraged to register in advance at abilis.us/walkrun and can complete their 5k or 1-mile run anywhere! Registration is free. Sign up at abilis.us/walkrun.

Participants in the Walk/Run for Abilis event are encouraged to share their Walk/Run for Abilis by sending photos to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and post on social media using the hashtags #Abilis and #WalkRunForAbilis. As in year’s past, teams are encouraged to create team t-shirts and costumes to build excitement and camaraderie to wear in the weeks leading up to October 18 or on their walk or run. Those who would like to purchase an Abilis 15th anniversary Walk/Run for Abilis long-sleeve t-shirt or neck gaiter can do so when they register at abilis.us/walkrun. There is no registration fee to participate, but participants are encouraged to make a donation or fundraise for the event.
