Greenwich will host Spring for Abilis gala in April to raise money for those with special needs

GREENWICH —  Abilis, the nonprofit organization providing services and support to more than 800 individuals with special needs and their families, is having its annual Spring for Abilis Gala on April 27 at Greenwich Country Club.

The event will feature Billy Blanks Jr. as the celebrity emcee with music provided by ETA Music. Dinner, dancing and a silent auction will also be part of the evening. To become a sponsor or purchase tickets, visit AbilisGala2024.givesmart.com

This year’s 2024 Spring for Abilis Gala co-chairs are Afton Fraser of Greenwich, Gena Mann of Weston and Hillary Sollinger of Fairfield, who are all parents of young adults with disabilities living in one of Abilis’ newest residences and participate in Abilis’ day support programs. Funds raised at the 2024 Spring for Abilis event will support new initiatives at Abilis.

“We are so excited for this year’s Spring for Abilis Gala,” said Amy Montimurro, CEO and president of Abilis, in a news release. “Spring for Abilis will be at a new location this year at the Greenwich Country Club, a longtime supporter and partner of Abilis. Greenwich Country Club has been part of the Abilis Competitive Employment program, employing several of our Abilis community members, and we are excited to hold our favorite springtime Gala at their beautiful club.”

Those wishing to support Spring for Abilis can purchase tickets online by visiting www.abilis.us and clicking on the Spring for Abilis banner.

Abilis will soon release information on the Abilis Giving Garden, where supporters can purchase items for Abilis’ programs, such as diapers, books and educational games for Abilis’ Birth to Three program, and other items for Abilis’ lifespan programs.

The Abilis Art Gallery will also be available online to bid on one-of-a-kind artwork created by Abilis community members; there also will be a silent auction as part of the Spring for Abilis Gala.

The Spring for Abilis sponsors are The Halper Family, Gena and Billy Mann, Evan Merberg, Kristine and Glen Braden, Cathy and Lou Paglia, Hillary and Jonathan Sollinger, and Greenwich Magazine/Moffly Media.
