Abilis LEAP Transition Information Session
Transition Programming for Young Adults with Special Needs
Tuesday, June 11, 2019 • 5:00 pm – 7pm
Saugatuck Congregation Church, 245 Post Road E, Westport, CT

"What happens when my child reaches the age of 21 and ages out of the school district?"
"What programs and services are available to my young adult child?"
"Is my child prepared to live independently, find a job, and navigate the community?"

Questions, like these, are very common for families whose children will be graduating from high school and embarking upon life as young adults.

Abilis is offering a free information session to participate in an interactive discussion about Transition Programming for Young Adults with Special Needs. The goal of the community-based program is to help young adults become more independent, obtain meaningful jobs, and participate in community activities. Representatives from Abilis will provide an overview about our LEAP Transition Program; discuss the initial steps required to determine the potential programs and services your son or daughter might consider, and review the vocational skills, life skills, cognitive social development, and community involvement that needs to be considered when living as an independent adult.

Abilis offers multiple transition programs throughout Fairfield County in the towns of Greenwich, Stamford, Westport, Wilton and Ridgefield. New location in New Canaan planned for this summer.

For more information about this Information Session please contact Luis Velazquez, Senior Director of Day Services at 203-531-1800 ext. 154. Registration is required, please register at www.abilis.us/calendar.
