Amy Montimurro — CEO and President of Abilis

Amy Montimurro stepped into the role of president and CEO of Abilis on July 1, 2018. Prior to her role leading the nonprofit organization that provides services and support for more than 800 individuals and families with special needs, Amy was with the organization for 22 years prior in numerous management and director level positions, including the director of Abilis Life Services. She led the organization through a tremendous period of growth in recent years, providing oversight and leading direct services programs for young adults through seniors with intellectual disabilities.

Under Amy’s leadership, Abilis has expanded the scope and geographic range of its services throughout Fairfield County, including:

• Launched and expanded the Abilis Young Adults/Transitions Life Skills program in Greenwich to Darien, Stamford, Westport and Wilton.
• Increased in the number of Abilis businesses which serve as job training sites, most notably Abilis Gardens and Gifts and other competitive employment with Greenwich Hospital, the Darien YMCA, Greenwich Library, Darien Library, Darien Teen Depot, Stamford Hospital, the Island Beach Concession, the Stamford Courthouse, as well as other businesses.  
• Worked with the 125+ local businesses that competitively provide employment for the individuals Abilis serves.  
• Implemented a robust social and recreational activities program for teens and adults that reaches 200+ individuals providing opportunities for friendships and social interaction.
• Increased the number of residential options throughout Darien, Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk and Westport.
• Is launching a second site in Stamford with the Cohen Abilis Advancement Center, opening fall 2024.

Amy’s academic accomplishments include a L.M.S.W degree from Fordham University and she is an adjunct professor at Fordham’s Graduate School of Social Services.
