Amy Montimurro is the president and chief executive officer of Abilis, one of the leading nonprofit organizations in the nation dedicated to offering comprehensive lifespan services and support for individuals with special needs and their families. With a career spanning more than three decades in the nonprofit sector, Amy has been a pivotal force in driving Abilis’ mission and vision forward. Her passion for her work and her steadfast commitment to Abilis's mission have made her a respected leader in the disability space. Her leadership continues to inspire hope and foster positive change in the community, making a lasting impact on the lives of those served by Abilis.

Amy received her Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University. Her extensive background in social work and unwavering dedication to community service have been key drivers of her successful leadership at Abilis.

Under Amy’s leadership, Abilis has experienced significant growth and innovation. She has expanded the organization’s programs and services to reach more individuals and meet the needs of the community, ensuring that every Abilis program participant receives the support they need to thrive. Amy has spearheaded several successful initiatives such as Project SEARCH in collaboration with Greenwich Hospital, the Darien YMCA and Stamford Health; the expansion of Abilis Cafés with partners at the Greenwich Library, Darien Library, Darien YMCA, Town of Greenwich and City of Stamford; expanded the Abilis REACH program; which expanded the population supported, and many other programs and services including expanding Abilis’ residential program to more than 60 homes throughout Fairfield County ensuring that Abilis can fulfill a lifelong commitment to its aging population; and spearheaded the launch of the new Cohen Abilis Advancement Center, with funding from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation. All of the Abilis programs are focused on transforming lives and strengthening communities.

Amy's deep commitment to Abilis and the community is to create an inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities and special needs. Her vision for Abilis is to expand access to quality services, advocate for the rights and inclusion of individuals with disabilities, and foster a community where everyone can achieve their fullest potential. Believing in the power of community and the importance of individualized support, Amy promotes a person-centered approach to ensure that the unique needs and aspirations of each individual are met. Amy is most proud of the employees she works with at Abilis each day. There is no “I” in TEAM and the success at Abilis is due to the collaborative effort of a talented and caring group of people working towards a common goal!
